National Academic League

Baltimore's National Academic League® celebrated the conclusion of a very exciting season with an event on Tuesday, April 15th at the American Visionary Arts Museum.  MPT's Bob Heck entertained the guests as emcee for the Season Finale event.  Dr. Alonso congratulated our players and coaches for their fine work and good sportsmanship during the season.  All-Stars from each team were joined by special guests Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, Troy Smith, Al Bumbry, Jessica Kartalija, Gregory Kane, and Chris Lycholat for an All-Star Challenge NAL® Game.   Following the game, players enjoyed snacks, dancing, and carnival entertainment.

2008 City Championship

Baltimore's National Academic League® championship on March 6th marked the end of a very good season. Roland Park Elementary/Middle beat Guilford Elementary/Middle to win the 2008 championship. Just as they have done all season, both teams played well. The players' responses and presentations showed that they had studied hard to prepare for the championship.

In the first round of the national tournament, Guilford played against St. John Neumann from Pueblo City, Colorado. St. John Neumann came out on top in OT, 51 - 48. Roland Park took on Mill Creek Junior High from Davis, Utah. In the last minute, Mill Creek went ahead to win 55 - 52. Both Baltimore teams represented our city and school system extremely well. We are very proud.

The 2007-2008 National Academic League® season was full of close scoring games and informative 3rd quarter presentations. Every team is to be applauded for its achievements and good sportsmanship.
